Senior Business Development and Recruitment Specialist

Founded in 2003 and proudly Canadian owned and operated, The Orion Group is a search firm providing permanent, contract, and temporary staffing solutions.


We are currently looking for an experienced, forward-thinking sales and marketing professional to join our team as a Senior Business Development and Recruitment Specialist. This individual would play a key role in continuing to grow our client base across all our verticals. At the outset, the task split is expected to be 70/30 between business development and recruitment.


Responsibilities:

  • Connecting with prospective clients via cold calling, networking, advertising and referrals

  • Identifying and developing client/business relationships in a competitive environment

  • Managing correspondence with clients including facilitating the job offer process and negotiating salary packages

  • Maintaining market and commercial awareness through research and networking

  • Networking to build business information that can be converted into commercial opportunities

  • Assessing and responding to the needs of each client or assignment

  • Providing market knowledge and advice to employers

  • Managing the business development process to deal closure

  • Develop and update job descriptions and job specifications

  • Perform job and task analysis to document job requirements and objectives

  • Responsible for executing and driving new and existing recruitment initiatives

  • Employ progressive sourcing methodologies to find top tier candidates using our in-house database along with external tools like LinkedIn

  • Screen candidates resumes and job applications

  • Interview, assess and present qualified candidates to the client based on job profiles

  • Provide counsel on best practices and policies to ensure effective execution of recruitment strategies and initiatives.

  • Provide excellent client experience and encourage repetitive business

  • Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process


Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education, preferably in Business Administration or Marketing

  • Minimum of 5 years in B2B sales role (previous experience in a recruitment agency in North America is preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to sell and develop business through cold calling and relationship building

  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple tasks at once while easily changing priorities when necessary

  • Familiarity with tools like LinkedIn Recruiter and Top Echelon’s Big Biller is strongly desired

  • Must be comfortable with direct sourcing, networking, and social media platforms

  • Resourceful and highly motivated to consistently meet and ideally exceed performance targets.

  • Excellent command of the English language, spoken and written. Bilingual (French) would be a plus

  • High level of integrity and work ethic

  • Experience sourcing qualified candidates through social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter) & job boards

  • Highly innovative, out-of-the-box thinker

  • Abilityto work in a fast paced and high-pressure environment, managing multiple openings and highly demanding client groups
