Senior Human Resources Generalist

POSITION:                Senior Human Resources Generalist (1 Year Contract)

 

REPORTING TO:      Director, Human Resources

 

LOCATION:              Vancouver, B.C.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure the fair and consistent treatment of all employees through the organization-wide compliance with all HR policies and practices and current employment legislation

  • Proactively manage high volume, full cycle recruiting by anticipating operations’ needs, sourcing candidates, updating job and advertising job descriptions, screening, interviewing, reference checks, criminal record checks and clearances and drafting the employment offer and scheduling required training

  • Work with Operations management to identify potential and future staffing requirements

  • Review priority, transfer, and holding lists as well as leaves of absences and employees on WCB to determine availability and suitability for current and future work assignments

  • Attend and represent the company at job fairs, open houses and other events to promote the organization

  • Contribute to overall recruitment strategy to achieve organizational targets

  • Respond, and provide guidance on the interpretation and administration regarding policies, programs and best practices to all employees

  • Support the department in implementing HR goals which will improve the employee experience

  • Proactively identify, improve and create new HR and Operations administrative policies, processes and procedures as required

  • Lead projects and/or initiatives that advance HR department objectives while adding value to the business

  • Manage the performance management and termination process according to best practices and employment law

  • Proactively manage and identify opportunities to improve the onboarding and orientation process

  • Implement and communicate Human Resources programs and initiatives and serve as an organizational trainer as required

  • Train and provide support, subject matter advice and back up to team members

  • Coach managers and site supervisors in all areas related to organization effectiveness, employee and labour relations, and employment law to ensure effective and legally compliant practices

  • Effectively recruit, train, coach, recognize and develop direct reports

  • Ensure effective HRIS administration processes and programs in support of organization performance

  • Set up new employees and processes payroll changes into HRIS system

  • Oversee the WorkSafe claim process

  • Lead the lower main land OH&S committee and be the point of contact for other committees to ensure compliance

  • Facilitate and support employee return to work program and smooth reintegration from leave

  • Maintain and verify accuracy of  employee records including pay, benefits, leave, positions, qualifications and certifications

  • Provide monthly HR metrics to measure and analyze HR services being delivered

  • Contribute content to company-wide communication efforts

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2008 requirements related to areas of responsibility

  • Perform other HR and Operations duties as assigned; this is an evolving position and responsibility may shift over time

  • Work in partnership with the business to independently provide sound advice, recommendations and resolutions to ensure high quality service on all employee relations matters while ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations

  • Actively recruit and manage the full cycle of recruitment to meet the demands of the business by using creativity and sound strategy

  • Manage all employee movement with accuracy and attention to detail while adhering to policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations

  • Execute the responsibilities practicing the highest ethical standards

  • Create an environment for positive employee relations by using sound judgment to ensure the fair and consistent treatment of all employees

  • Manage and develop one HR Coordinator

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma supplemented with a bachelor’s degree in management or human resources; CHRP designation required

  • 6 + years in progressively responsible positions, with a focus on generalist HR support and full life cycle recruiting experience in a high-volume environment.  Security industry experience an asset

  • Demonstrates sound judgment, problem-solving skills and provides solid recommendations in resolving HR matters

  • Detail-oriented with high standards for quality of deliverables

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proficiency in business writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar

  • Proven time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work under pressure

  • Able to act independently and make decisions within the scope of assigned duties

  • Ability to instill confidence and serve as a valued business partner with client groups

  • Shows tact, diplomacy and discretion in handling information of confidential and/or sensitive nature

  • Able to think strategically, act tactically and demonstrate good judgment and achieve results and meet deadlines

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • High level of customer focus and service orientation

  • Self- motivated with the ability to work independently

  • Able to adapt to change in the workplace and the market

  • Proven ability to take accountability for actions and decisions
