Maintenance Technician (Temporary)
POSITION: Maintenance Technician (Temporary)
REPORTING TO: Maintenance Manager
LOCATION: Calgary, Alberta
Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, as directed by supervisor;
Respond to unscheduled maintenance work orders as assigned;
Maintenance of the swimming pool on a daily and seasonal basis,;
Responsible for cleaning duties, including litter pick-up, sweeping, shoveling, pressure washing, or other duties as assigned by supervisor;
Maintenance and watering of outdoor flower pots and beds, seasonally;
Accompany vendors and contractors while work is being completed and reporting progress to supervisor;
Complete minor maintenance as required (i.e. clogged sinks, lighting replacement and repair, toilets or flood clean up).
Familiarization with the emergency operation of electrical, elevator, boiler, fire panel and safety systems, mechanical systems, emergency generator, sprinkler and timer systems;
Ensure operations records, files and documentation are maintained accurately and timely and in accordance with established procedures;
Uphold and report breaches of the rules and regulations of the property;
Friendly and positive resident interaction and communication in a polite and diplomatic manner;
Further efforts to ensure resident satisfaction and service delivery through prompt service, ongoing communication and follow up;
Emergency response and on-call duty, as required;
Practice occupational health and safety;
Manage hazardous materials as per the established policy;
Other related duties as required. May require heavy lifting
Qualifications:
Experience – General related experience preferred. An awareness of Occupational Health and Safety and WHMIS management practices.
Computer Skills - Comfort using Blackberry’s, cell phones and two-way radios
Relationship Skills - Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written, superior ability to develop and sustain cooperating working relationships with staff, contractors, the public and especially residents.
Availability – Flexibility in hours to ensure availability for last day of each month and the first two to three days of the beginning of the month in order to accommodate the move-in-move-outs, and trades. Being able to handle emergencies occurring after regular office hours.
Organizational/Multi-Task Skills - Ability to allocate one’s time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities, adapt to new ideas and constant changes. Willing to be and available for after-hours callouts in emergency or unavoidable situations.
